Hanna and Davey’s luxurious bash was one of those weddings that will make you reconsider every wedding decision you’ve made thus far, and make your celebration hop right on the timelessly classic train. Filled to the brim with super-stylish notes and tons of white luscious florals, that gave the couple’s big line of guests a pretty good view into our bride and groom’s personalities, our couple was firm that their destination wedding should take place in a big city, with every luxury and facility within close reach.
Athens dazzles with its exquisite light and is no stranger to the treasury of wedding venues a glamorous couple seeks after. Hanna and Davey just went with the romantic vibes of the southern subburbs, and dived right in -forgive us- one of the most beautiful. Lake Vouliagmeni is such a magical place to tie the knot and its mystical ambiance just right to have you escape the buzz and get in the mood for love.

FROM THE BRIDE
HOW WE MET AND THE PROPOSAL
We were both living abroad in China. Hannah got invited to play Gaelic football where she met Davey at one of the social outings. Davey proposed on Christmas Eve 2016. I wasn’t able to get much time off work, so we did a little stay-cation in Ajman, UAE. After a romantic dinner we came back to our hotel room which was decorated with candles, rose petals and he got down on one knee! It was a very sweet moment between the two of us followed by lots of champagne and calls to our families and friends.
WHY WE CHOSE ATHENS
We choose to get married in Athens for many reasons. We had so many people traveling from all over the world and wanted to pick a location that didn’t require any extra traveling (another flight, ferry, etc.) from a major airport. Athens in particular is a great city that allows for a destination wedding! It’s beautiful and offers something for everyone.
DÉCOR AND FLORALS
We didn’t really follow any themes for the wedding more so a color palette. I wanted to keep the groom and bridal party elegant with black to compliment the all white flowers. We kept the the tables, chairs and everything all white since I love the monochromatic look. I loved the way it turned out!
We wanted a really romantic feel for the evening and also wanted to create enough lighting for an outdoor setting so we went with lots of tree lighting, floor lighting and lots and lots of candles. We had such a beautiful venue we wanted to let it speak for itself. At night everything was all lit up, it was magical.
The overall style of our wedding was simple yet glamorous. We stuck with white flowers, limited greenery and simple hints of gold in the tables. We had such a stunning location so we didn’t want to over complicate the decorations.
The entire bridal party and the bride carried bouquets. Then men and the page boys wore buttonholes and our precious flower-girls wore flower crowns. I think they added the perfect touch and made everyone cohesive.
OUR WEDDING LOOKS
I love a man in a tux! So that was simple, we got something custom made in Dubai for him so the fit was perfect. For myself, I really wanted something timeless. I actually ordered my dress online and it was the only one I tried on! Last minute I decided to wear a headband too add just a a little extra to my look.
SPECIAL MOMENTS OF THE WEDDING
I would have to say I loved the speeches the most. It’s really nice to hear stories about each other growing up and the different stages of our relationship. One of our Page Boys asked us half way through if he could also say something. It was just such a sweet moment.
Our wedding night was really about bringing together all the people we love into one evening. I think each moment from the ceremony to the speeches to the first dance was special in its own way. It was really important to me to create a beautiful evening and really important to Davey to have a party!
ADVICE TO OTHER COUPLES
You hear it often but the day really does go so fast. So do your best to enjoy every single moment! I would also say to trust your gut.
