A Modern Eclectic Santorini Elopement Wedding At Aenanon Villas
Whether wedding bells chime to you in the style of crisp classic whites or the luxurious free abandon of the Cycladic islands, you will find Diana and Miguel’s modern eclectic Santorini elopement wedding at Aenanon Villas an absolute stunner to build a dream on.
From the picture perfect views locked in the dash of natural light cascading slowly down the iconic Caldera. To the hard-to-resist celebration for two, created by Julia and Evita from Santorini glam weddings this magnificent day rolled by like a dream we wish we could kept living over and over again.
A glorious blue-sky morning greeted the more than a little dashing cascade of sun-bleached villas. Diana and Miguel enjoyed a fresh breakfast on the terrace of their suite with seductive plunge-into-the-sea vistas and happy alone-together holiday vibes.
They got prepped seperately – Diana looked ravishing in her Justin Alexander wedding dress and bridal Jimmy Choos- . And soon as their vow kiss sealed the deal they got to indulge in the romance of a light-drapped dinner.
We couldn’t help falling for their contagious smiles and wish them the best!
FROM THE BRIDE
HOW WE MET AND THE PROPOSAL
We met online on Match.com, it took us awhile to be able to tell people that. 🙂 Miguel was busy getting his MBA and I was busy focusing on work and we didn’t want to meet someone randomly at a bar so we thought online dating might be an alternative option. After 3 years of dating, we were heading to our 3rd Tom Petty concert.
While we were getting ready at home we were listening to some pre-concert music and all of a sudden I heard my parents (and one of my favorite songs) come on “Hotel California”. When I walked out to our kitchen Miguel and our pup, Benny were sitting next to each other, Miguel got on one knee and asked me to spend the rest of my life with him. It was very intimate and private and exactly how I wanted his proposal to be, just us and our pup! We celebrated like crazy at the concert that night and the rest is history!
WHY WE CHOSE SANTORINI
Miguel and I wanted the day to be about us and OUR love story. At first our family wanted us to have a wedding in Chicago, our hometown, but within minutes of starting to plan we got stressed out and said, this isn’t how this should feel. We wanted our engagement and wedding planning to be easy, fun and stress free! We both love traveling and had always dreamt of visiting Santorini, we thought getting married in our dream location together would be amazing and we were right, it was beyond our wildest dreams. It was pure magic!
DÉCOR AND FLORALS
We knew that we wouldn’t need much decor because of the natural beauty of Santorini. Also, our elopement ceremony was held at Aenaon Villas. Which just has the most magnificent backdrop of the sea and the Caldera volcano. We asked our wedding planner, Evita Psycha from Santorini Glam Weddings to create some sort of arch with lots of greenery and pops of coral and white flowers. It ended up looking ethereal and beautiful, like from a garden in a fairytale. They used the flowers from the arch as a runner for our private dinner ceremony and added candles everywhere. The candles with the coral flowers and the pink sunset in the background was all the decoration we needed and more!
OUR WEDDING LOOKS
Since we were getting married in Greece, as the bride I wanted to go for a Grecian Goddess vibe. I wanted a light and flowy dress that was classy but fun at the same time. I made some alterations to the dress. Including adding a slit and a belt that gave it more of the look I wanted.
I was all about finding amazing Grecian inspired shoes so I went with the Gold Jimmy Choo Lang Glitter Sandal and they were absolute perfection and were displayed perfectly with the slit in my dress! Makeup was all about tan skin, a Grecian glow, coral lips and making my eyes pop including wearing false lashes. My husband was all about being classic but relaxed vibe so he went with a classic blue Hugo Boss suit, no tie. He didn’t want to go with a loafer, so he went with Allen Edmond cap toe dress shoes with laces to spruce things up!
SPECIAL MOMENT OF THE WEDDING
We are both huge music lovers and a lot of our memories surround music, especially classic rock. I made sure through our wedding planner that we would have an acoustic guitar player. That could play and sing very specific songs for our first look, walk down the aisle, first dance, etc. When I heard the guitarist start playing “here comes the sun” that’s when emotions started to run high. It was the happiest moment of the day for me. It hit me I was so blessed to be in Santorini. With the love of my life and would remember that very moment and feeling for the rest of my life. It was like nothing I had ever felt before!
ADVICE TO OTHER COUPLES
Do what your heart desires! I can’t tell you how guilty we felt initially deciding to elope just the two of us. But after experiencing this Santorini elopement, it was the best decision we ever could have made. We came back and had a nice celebratory dinner for our closest family members. Everyone was just as happy to celebrate us. So, you do you! This is your love story to write!
